This is a recipe for a completely organic, preservative free skin balm. It’s great for dry skin, stretch marks, chapped lips, skin burns, and the itchiness that some of us moms get during pregnancy. It’s a real lifesaver for me.
Ingredients:
Small Mason jar with lid
Raw, Unrefined, Organic coconut oil
10 Vitamin E 400 Oil capsules (found in the vitamin section of your grocery), preferably a natural/organic brand
Organic olive oil (optional)
essential oils for scent if desired
Directions:
Melt the coconut oil down to a liquid. This can be done by letting the container sit in hot water for a few minutes.
As the coconut oil is melting, carefully cut the tips off of the Vitamin E capsules and squeeze the oil into your mason jar. Don’t just throw the capsules in, you need to remove them from their shell first.
Fill the container the rest of the way with the now liquid coconut oil. If you prefer a softer balm as opposed to a firm one, you can also add a little bit of olive oil.
Add essential oils for scent if desired.
Pop the lid on the mason jar and shake shake shake til it’s all mixed together nicely. Let set in the fridge until firm. All done!
The wonderful thing about this balm is that it stays solid a room temperature, and melts almost immediately after coming into contact with your skin. Not only that, but you don’t need any preservatives like you do with traditional lotion/balm-making, because the Vitamin E 400 is a natural preservative. I love applying it to my tummy and legs after a nice shower, or adding a spoonful to my bath for some much needed super-mom relax time!
sounds wonderful. thank you.
